2019-2020 CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS
Respect yourself and others enough to participate in all classroom activities and assignments without complaining or causing a problem for you or for others.
If you cause a problem for you or for others, there will be consequences.
They may be different even though the problems seem similar.
Please follow these classroom procedures.

** Designates a performance or activity that will involve all LMS/LHS choir students.
All portions of this policy will remain in effect for the entire 2019-2020 school year unless notification of a change is given in writing.

2019-2020 CLASSROOM EXPECTATIONS

Please follow these classroom procedures.
- Be in your seat with your choir folder and quiet before the tardy bell rings. After the tardy bell, you must have a pass from the office or another teacher or 2 points will be deducted on MTWTh and 1 point will be deducted on F. (Restroom break will be excused occasionally.)
- Cell phones, headphones, or personal electronic devices are not allowed in class.
- Do not bring gum, food, or drinks to class. Water in a clear bottle with a lid is ok.
- Have a sharpened pencil in your choir folder at all times. 5 points will be deducted for every written assignment that is completed in ink.
- Sing with the class using proper singing posture and technique. If you are unable to sing for 3 or more days, please bring a note from a parent/guardian to ensure they are aware of any potential health concerns.
- Acceptable noise levels (when we are not singing); 0-absence of sound, 1-you and another person, 2-small group, 3-class project, 4-outside voice (not to be used in class).
- Bring your School Tablet to class as directed by Mrs. Bowman.
- Do not ask to leave class unless you are ill or in need of the school nurse.
- Classroom Behavior/Participation: 10 points/week (Follow classroom expectations). MTWTh=4 points each, F =2 points.
- Assignments: Singing, worksheets, writings, quizzes, tests, and all classroom activities.
- Make-up Work: To be determined according to the reason for the absence.
- Performance: 200 points possible per Concert. Points for other performances may vary.
- Attached is a calendar of events, please keep the dates clear of other activities.
- All performances involving your choir are a classroom requirement.
- Notification of an absence from a performance is to be in writing, signed by a parent/guardian and turned in to Mrs. Bowman prior to the performance.
- Make-up work will be available for any absence. If it is excused, up to full credit is possible. If it is unexcused, up to half credit is possible.
- If make-up work is not completed and returned to Mrs. Bowman by the due date, the student will receive a zero (0) for that performance.
- Performance Attire:
- Please do not wear necklaces or bracelets except for medical reasons. Hair bands or clips should be small and match your hair color.
- High School Choirs wear outfits, black shoes and black socks. Outfits are owned by the LHS Music Department and will be distributed at the beginning of the school year and returned after the last performance of the school year. Students are responsible for the upkeep and must pay for a replacement if it is lost or damaged in any way.
- Middle School Choirs wear blue choir shirts to be purchased at the beginning of the school year, unless students already own one. Black pants, black shoes and black socks are to be supplied by the student.
- GRADUATION: June 7, 2020 At 1:00pm. Required performance for all LHS choir students.
- Final 2nd semester grade will be lowered by 1 (one) letter for any student that does not perform at Graduation.

- FUNDRAISING: Students are not required to participate in any Music Department fund raiser and classroom grades will not be affected either way. All profits earned will be deposited into the general music fund and will be distributed as needs arise.
