The Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) District Solo and Ensemble Contest will be held at Yorktown High School
The Instrumental contest is held on Saturday, February 1, 2020.
The Vocal/Piano contest is held on Saturday, February 8, 2020
The individual performance times will be determined at a later date, but will be between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm. If you have conflicts during those times, please do not register for contest.
If you are on social or academic probation at the time of the contest you will not be allowed to participate and your money will not be refunded.
This is a very important activity for our Music Department and should be taken seriously. We will help select the piece of music that we feel is best suited for you. We expect each participating student to thoroughly prepare for this event and to practice outside of class. We will be available after school by appointment for individual assistance. It will, however, be the responsibility of the student to sign up for practice times. Class time will not be devoted to preparation for this contest. (Mrs. Bowman will not be available for practice the day of the contest therefore, you will be responsible to warm-up and rehearse on your own.)
A permission slip with payment (Please see Mr. Jackson or Mrs. Bowman) must be completed and returned by TBA. The cost is $15.00 per solo and $7.00 per ensemble member. It is non-refundable, therefore, if you are not sure you will be able to attend on the contest date please do not return the form. If you are planning to use piano accompaniment you will need to pay $15.00 to your accompanist on the day of the contest. Note: If you participate at the Group I level and receive a Division I rating, you qualify for the State ISSMA Contest and must pay for your solo or ensemble on the day of District Contest ($15.00 per solo, $15.00 per ensemble member).
Participants will be expected to provide their own transportation to and from the contest site and arrive 30-45 minutes prior to the performance time to warm-up. You may leave after you have performed and received your music from the judge.
let us stress the importance of taking this event seriously and representing Lincoln Middle School/High School in a positive way.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
